Revitalize of indigenous community economic institution to Strengthen Guardianship over Indigenous Territories and Intergenerational Transmission in Dayak Iban Jalai Lintang, Kapuas Hulu, West Kalimantan

Background and objective: In the context of adat institutions, Dayak Iban Sungai Utik is one of the other seven Menua (Indigenous community) which is a unity of Ketemenggungan Dayak Iban Jalai Lintang in Kapuas Hulu District, West Kalimantan.Indigenous Dayak Iban Sungai Utik has obtained the Kapuas Hulu Regent Decree No. 561, 2019 concerning recognition and protection of the rights of Ketemengungan Dayak Iban Jalai Lintang. This decree become a basic in processing of recognition of customary forest in Ministry of Environment and Forestry. they have also received  Certificate of Sustainable Forest Management from the LEI (an Ecolabel Institution In Indonesia), the Kalpataru award (as an environmental conservation group)  and the Equator Prize from UNDP . This project aims to scale up the achievements of Indigenous Dayak Iban Sungai Utik  by revitalizing the economic institutions to strengthen guardianship of indigenous territories and intergenerational transmission in 7 indigenous communities of Ketemenggungan Dayak Iban Jalai Lintang, Kapuas Hulu, West Kalimantan. 

 Local partner information: AMAN’s mission is to empower, advocate for, and mobilize indigenous people’s of the Indonesian archipelago to protect our collective rights, and to preserve our cultures and environments for current and future generations. AMAN provides innovative solutions by utilizing indigenous values, knowledge, and solidarity to promote social justice, ecological sustainability and human welfare. The major programs are Legal recognition on the rights of indigenous peoples’s in Indonesia, Mapping of Indigenous Territories, Indigenous Peopples’ political participation), Economic empowerment, Strengthen Indigenous Youth and Women, and Renewable energy program.The implementation of this project will involve 7 indigenous communities of Ketemenggungan  Dayak Iban Jalai Lintang in Kapuas Hulu, West Kalimantan. AMAN Kapuas Hulu, as local chapter, will be involved in the project planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation
