Indigenous Peoples of the World

The International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples, reminds us of the importance of recognizing and valuing the contributions of the diverse indigenous communities that inhabit the seven socio-cultural regions of our planet. These communities not only preserve a unique cultural richness, but also play a crucial role in protecting and caring for Mother Earth.

Since long before the Paris Agreement and the 2030 Agenda, Indigenous Peoples have been stewards of our Mother Earth. In their territories, which range from tropical forests to arctic and coastal ecosystems, they have demonstrated a deep commitment to preserving nature, that is the source of life, passing down ancestral knowledge from generation to generation.

As we move toward a more sustainable future, we learn valuable lessons from those who have been stewards of our planet since time immemorial. Their ability to govern themselves and their enduring commitment to the care of Mother Earth are a reminder that we can all contribute to the care of our mother earth.
