Eight years ago, in the midst of the United Nations World Conference on Indigenous Peoples, Pawanka Fund was born as a Fund for indigenous ways of knowing and learning. Throughout its existence, it has built relationships of trust, creating networks and promoting the articulation between local and global processes. With the direction of a Guiding Committee led by our Chair, Myrna Cunningham, the time has come to take a leap in what has been developed so far, in terms of image and communication. Today we are proud to present the new image of Pawanka, consisting of its brand, website, institutional video and communication strategies.
Brand
From our image, a noticeable redesign was developed in the logo, which seeks to preserve the essence from our origin, since the logo was created collaboratively from the 7 cultural regions of the world. Indigenous peoples from Africa, the Arctic, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean, North America, the Pacific and Russia contributed to the construction and identification of a symbol that could represent the indigenous worldview following the mission of Pawanka Fund, a fund led by and for the indigenous peoples of the world.
Imagotype: Our shape symbolizes the representation of Mother Earth, three circular figures in the middle that represent the indigenous peoples in a relationship of solidarity and reciprocity, with the four elements of the earth in its corners: water, fire, earth and air, all elements necessary to sustain life on earth.
Typography: We created an exclusive and personalized font to represent the Miskitu word PAWANKA, which means growing and strengthening. For our graphic proposal, some indigenous pictograms are taken as a reference, but proposed from a contemporary visual style.
Logotype: Here you can see the logotype together with our logo and typography.
Branding: In addition to the construction of the logo, which is the graphic element itself, we created a brand proposal, along with the communication strategy to enhance our organization and connect with allies, potential partners and indigenous peoples who are increasingly joining this network.
