Strengthening the Culture of Ngata Toro Indigenous People

Ngata Toro Indigenous Women’s Organization (OPANT)

The program aims for the assisted indigenous communities to have customary rules written down to serve as guidelines for decision-making at the village level. Increased knowledge of the community, especially women, about climate change, women’s issues, and skills. In addition, the Ngata Toro traditional school can have more adequate learning modules and competent teaching staff in an effort to pass on local knowledge to the younger generation.
Through the main program: (1) Facilitating the documentation of local wisdom of the Ngata Toro indigenous community, sigi district; (2) Capacity Building of Ngata Toro Customary Organizations, Communities, and Institutions; (3) Facilitation of Ngata Toro Customary School.

The Ngata Toro Indigenous Community has written customary rules and a map of the indigenous community’s management area. Ngata Toro Traditional School can have competent teachers and appropriate teaching materials to pass on local knowledge to children.
