Indigenous Peoples of Asia Solidarity Fund (IPAS Fund)
Indigenous peoples and their organizations at the grassroots level are facing multiple issues,concerns, and challenges in relation to their rights, culture, livelihood, and well-being. At the same time, they have traditional skills, knowledge, practices, and values which are critical in strengthening their capacities to protect and defend their rights and pursue their holistic approach to development and wellbeing. This project aims to strengthen their agencies and capacities and strengthen their values of cooperation to address the challenges they face and advance their rights and well-being.
Six National Steering committees of IPAS created to facilitate projects for grassroots organizations.Common understanding of guidelines, criteria, and considerations in selecting grassroots organizations to receive financial and technical support based on their needs and priorities. At least 6 grassroots indigenous peoples organizations including the organizations of indigenous women, indigenous youths, and indigenous persons with disabilities are selected from this project. The selected 6 grassroots organizations received assistance in preparing their proposal. At least 120 indigenous peoples with at least 45% indigenous youth, 45% women, and 15% indigenous persons with disabilities at the grassroots directly strengthened their knowledge, skills, and practices by directly engaging with the activities implemented by grassroots indigenous peoples’ organizations.
