Kulima Kwambone, Malawi

Social Economic Enhancement & Enterprise Development (SEEED Malawi)

The Kulima Kwambone project has been designed to enhance Indigenous knowledge on the utilisation of underutilised and neglected biodiversity in food systems through an integral approach to farmland conservation using sustainable agricultural practices for diversified food production and income security. Malawi is considered food insecure every year due to the fragmentation of species and loss of soil fertility because of unsustainable use of biodiversity.

To contribute to the utilisation of neglected traditional knowledge in strengthening the food systems and to support practices that lead to sustainable agriculture and protect biodiversity necessary for secure food systems through improving indigenous peoples’ knowledge for wider food diversity & nutrition security, and improving soil fertility through soil conservation, ago-forestry management & animal control.
