Engaging influential indigenous actors in the battle against gender violence

The COVID-19 pandemic, with all its restrictions, exacerbated poverty in the lives of ordinary communities in Kyrgyzstan. It has also been linked to a rise in cases of domestic and gender-based violence. The decline in living standards, decline in employment, and forced closure have led to an increase in domestic violence in Kyrgyzstan. The initiative aims to harness traditional wisdom by influential indigenous actors to address and fight against Gender-Based Violence.

To support the well-being and protection of indigenous women from Gender-Based Violence by conducting a series of participatory meetings with influential indigenous actors to explore strategies for their active participation in the actions aimed at combating gender-based violence.
