Voyaging Across Indigenous Oceania: Revitalization Efforts to Sustain Our Mother Tongue

Pacific Indigenous Women’s Network

This initiative presents a collaboration across five Pacific peoples for the effort of indigenous language revitalization. Partners include: Guahan (Guam), Hawai’i, Aotearoa, Remethau community (Peoples of the Sea), and Commonwealth of the Mariana Islands. These partners were specifically identified because they represent indigenous Pacific communities whose experience with colonization has resulted in the threat to the survival of their indigenous languages.

For this initiative, each partner will design and implement their own respective language revitalization activities, based on their unique community’s needs.
