The initiative “Preservation of the Yagnoban Language and Identity” is the next step in studying and preserving the Yagnoban ethnic language and traditions, which are increasingly under pressure due to rapid economic and social transformations. Consequently, the project will primarily focus on the general trends and major issues in responding to the emerging challenges of the disappearance of the Jagnobians’ ethnic oral and intangible cultural heritage.
A documentary film on Yaghnobi culture, language, and customs will be filmed and broadcast on national television.
A conference on “Preservation of the Yaghnobi language” was held, followed by submitting results as an appeal to the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tajikistan on measures to preserve the Yagnob language.
