Diné Community Advocacy Alliance (DCAA)
Our Healthy Diné Nation initiatives, efforts, and initiatives have been and are deeply rooted in intergenerational collective action, in community, and in relationship to address our diabetes epidemic, to reclaim our identity through traditional healthy food, and to improve the health and well-being of our people. In and around our Navajo Nation in the southwest U.S., we are addressing nutritional trauma and raising awareness of processed, unhealthy food that greatly dominates our food system and food access points. Our initiative is to continue to present opportunites to community members through webinars, an in-person event, and through social media regarding three pillars: 1) food sovereignty, 2) healing and leadership, and 3) community engagement and empowerment.
