The project main goal is to strengthen food security of the indigenous communities Curripaco, Uwottuja, Curripaco y Baniva. In particular, the project propose the strengthening of the productive capacity of at least 10 indigenous communities that produce Mañoco (dehydrated cassava processing) through adequate equipment and promotion of their products in the Puerto Ayacucho Region in Venezuela.
The project also includes the organization of a traditional food fair to present Mañoco products and promoted by indigenous organizations in the city of Puerto Ayacucho.
Se han equipado 10 comunidades con rayadoras de yuca y su respectiva ponchera para el aumento de producción de los derivados de yuca. Se capacitaron a las comunidades sobre el uso de las maquinas rayadoras. e realizó una feria gastronómica con los productores. Se promociono mediante diversos medios de radio los productos ofertados por las comunidades beneficiarias. Los productores han aumentado su capacidad de producción y a su vez su poder adquisitivo. Empoderamiento de las mujeres y conocimiento de sus derechos, además de los derechos de las comunidades a las que se atendió con este proyecto.

The Organización de Pueblos Indígenas Amazónicos (ORPIA) is an organization created and legally constituted in September 1993 through the Regional Congress convened by the 19 indigenous peoples that live in that federal entity. The organization’s main objective is to preserve their indigenous people’s biopsychosocial, historical and cultural identity. The purpose is to work in the areas of: territory, education, science and technology, environmental protection, human rights, health, research, women and family, documentation and information and other areas, in the Amazonian area. The production of mañoco generates a benefit on the cassava produced by indigenous peoples and has an indirect effect on the wellbeing and environment. Having an improvement in income avoid pressure on farmers.
