Background and objective:
The Munda people are one of the 50 indigenous communities that live in the Sundarban Mangrove Forest in the South West part of Bangladesh. As one of the most marginalized indigenous community that lives in the coastal area, the Munda people have been first-hand victims of climate change for generations having been severely impacted by the climate disasters every year that include cyclones, tornados, flash flood. These are destroying livelihoods such as land and shrimp farming, livestock; destroy houses and drinking water sources among others. The biggest threat is that the practices of traditional systems based on indigenous knowledge, spiritual believes and languages are now impacted by climate change, which may worsen in the coming years. The aim of this project is to empower the Munda indigenous peoples to respond to and address the impacts of climate change through the documentation and promotion of their traditional knowledge and skills for climate adaptation, resilience, and food security.
Munda community people has aware about their traditional knowledges. The community people are interested to deeply idea about customary laws herbal treatment, social systems etc. Abook has been published to contain Munda culture,food system, traditional and ritual believe and their own social systems hey have got their ceremonial prayer system from this advocacy. meeting.Youth generation increase their traditional and spiritual knowledge with religions believe. Herbal treatment is the first. and last trust. They find out some symbol the signal of natural climate when the scientific process was not here.They need a good sustainable livelihood.
