The project aims to design and execute a regional communication strategy of the Regional Platform Against the Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on the Indigenous Peoples of Mexico, Central and South America. The first step is to design tools and a system for collecting and disseminating information at the regional level. Second, to support the communication efforts carried out by local organizations so that their messages can have greater impact and dissemination. The information strategy will include news, data and analysis on the situation of the towns and communities in the face of the pandemic (communities at risk, those affected, contaminated individuals, those under observation, among other variables), communicate and disseminate protection and treatment actions (that are developed by communities themselves), disseminate recommendations for prevention and treatment by public health authorities, as well as other type of relevant information for communities, towns and authorities.
The Regional Platform is made up of more than thirty regional and national indigenous organizations from all over the American continent, concerned about the severity of COVID 19, and constantly monitoring the evolution of the pandemic, recording data and reports, and promoting mechanisms that serve as incentives for broad dialogue processes between governments and indigenous communities. In this framework, the Regional Platform is essential to improve information systems and mechanisms on the pandemic, and become more efficient in communicating messages, data and relevant events to prevent, treat and mitigate the impacts on indigenous towns and communities.
The organizations that make up the Regional Platform have a long and recognized track record of promoting and defending the rights of indigenous peoples. The structure is open to allow for the incorporate of new members.

Implementada estrategia regional de comunicación para una amplia divulgación de las iniciativas y acciones de organizaciones y pueblos indígenas de los países miembros de FILAC para la prevención y combate a los efectos del Covid 19. Se ha diseñado un portal web en el que se comparte información del FILAC en diferentes formatos electrónicos. Se han producido y difundido reportes semanales con información de cómo los pueblos indígenas de la región y las autoridades estatales están realizando acciones para prevenir y mitigar los efectos del Covid 19 en la región.
