Llaguipulli Indigenous Community
This project arises from the needs and aspirations of our families, and is based on our capabilities, experiences, processes of participation, self-organization and ongoing collaboration, which has enabled us to generate a comprehensive assessment of opportunities and challenges of our family agriculture in a context of limited access to natural resources, climate and social instability, but on the other hand, we find incentives and emerging capabilities to launch a long-range agro-ecological transition. make key investments for the promotion of agro-ecological transition strategies through a sustainable intensification of orchards, smaller breeding and agroforestry systems, with a focus on the role of women in the community.
The Indigenous Community Llaguepulli is located south of Chile, Araucania region, Teodoro Schmidt commune. The LOF Llaguepulli is located 115 km south-west of Temuco, capital city of the ninth region of Araucania. The nearest town is Puerto Dominguez located approximately at a distance of 14 kilometers. Puerto Dominguez is a Lof situated on the shores of Lake Budi, the only salt lake of South America, which population is 100% Mapuche, link to ancestral knowledge, traditions and customs.
