Promotion, enchancement and transmission of indigenous knowledge and practices of the Pidlisan, Tribe, Kankanaey, Igorot in the Northern Villages of Sagada, Mountain province, Philippines.

Pidlisan Tribe Organization (PTO)

Enhancement of indigenous ways of learning and knowing (IWKL) to develop indigenous knowledge systems and practices (IKSP) to secure customary governance over territories and resources and for self determined sustainable development with active participation of youth and women .

The Pidlisan tribe in mid 2011 started a collaborative work with Tebtebba and studied the status and trends of the indigenous knowledge systems and practices and the status of land, territories and resources of the Pidlisan territory. Tebtebba is an indigenous institution established in 1996 and is a nonprofit, non-stock organization registered in the Republic of the Philippines. Tebtebba has Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the UN.

Enthusiasm of the teachers and the elders to carry on the activities of producing relevant instructional materials and were able to produce results more than what was targeted 3 Elders took on their role as resource persons and which icnreased their confidence. Discussion among farmers on how to face challenges in rice farming was started, but not enough to reclaim even 50% of the abandoned rice.
