Participatory Assessment and Monitoring of the Ancestral Waters of the West Coast Tagbanua of Puerto Princesa City: Policy Enhancement for the Protection of Ancestral Water and Associated Resources in Puerto Princesa City

This proposed project intends to continue the conduct of participatory assessment and monitoring of ancestral waters in west coast of Puerto Princesa City, Philippines. The main goal is to assess the condition of the marine resources within the ancestral waters through regular monitoring and capacity building. This is to strengthen the efforts in protecting and conserving marine resources to attain sustainability through policy enhancement and improved monitoring system.

Actual survey of ancestral water boundaries conducted; Increased in stakeholder engagement in coastal resource management; Regular monitoring of ancestral waters established and initially implemented ; Observation and indigenous knowledge on coastal resource management documented; Arranged and conducted meetings and courtesy calls with related offices concerning the participatory assessment of marine resources; Conducted trainings on participatory assessment of marine resources within ancestral waters of barangays Napsan, Bagong Bayan, and Simpocan, Puerto Princesa City; Conducted participatory assessment of marine resources within ancestral waters of barangays Napsan, Bagong Bayan, and Simpocan, Puerto Princesa City; and Submitted final report on the participatory assessment of marine resources within ancestral waters of barangays Napsan, Bagong Bayan, and Simpocan, Puerto Princesa City.
