Local Partner: Municipalidad de Isla de Pascua (Rapa Nui)
Foster sustainable education, a deeper connection to nature and reconnection with ancestral Rapa Nui values and practices in today’s youth. We aim to dramatically strengthen the impact of a project called Poki Henua (Children’s Earth), that incorporates a methodology internationally recognized as a best practice for building values in-line with sustainable livelihoods. The program, which focuses on school gardens, began its pilot phase in 2019 in the two main schools. In 2020 it expanded to a third (a nursery school) despite the pandemic. This year they are working on implementing the program in a total of six institutions on the island.
