Water above the ground and below the ground

Local Partner: Indigenous Lawyers Association of Queensland Inc

The first part of project is about the issues of water above the ground and below the ground. For the below the ground we will look at an Aboriginal woman who owns a cattle station and only has access to water below the ground, currently she is now only on one bore as the water below the ground is drying and her bores had been able to access water for over 100 years. How much water is under the ground and what is the usage available to all, do Australia need to start putting a cap on underground water use. The second part of the project is water above the ground, the sea water is rising in the Torres Strait and with that water rising, comes plastic bottles to the small island of Thursday Island. Thursday Island want to capture the plastic and do a data base as well as raise the issue of water rising.

Results achieved was all of the groups could use the funds for their community and youth do restore culture practices.
